Tilly has 7 Beautiful Puppies !!!

Oct 1

Tilly had a litter of 2 girls & 5 boys on 25th September 2013

We are hugely proud of our Tilly & her gorgeous mate Truls!

On the 25th September Tilly gave birth to 7 beautiful puppies; 2 girls & one boy.

Whelping took a mere 2 hours which we think is due in part to her being such a fit little Herding Girl!

'Mum' & pups are thriving, more photos to follow when I have caught up on my sleep lol!

Her are the puppies @ 3 days old with Tilly, below is a photo of proud 'Dad' Truls.

Tilly is Starvon Valkyrja Mist for Bowkol.

Truls is Pepperthyme Golden Noble at Kirkholme.

We are hugely grateful to Rose Peacock-Jackson at the Kirkholme Kennels for allowing us to use her lovely boy, & for all her generosity, knowledge & experience.

It was a first mating for both Tilly & Truls.

Loki & Herding Clinics...

Sep 2

Loki has returned from his 2 day Herding Clinic.....glad to be 'home' with 'his sheep x

Loki & I spent 2 Days @ a Herding Clinic recently, all of which clarified certain things in my mind!

One thing is that Loki is not really a 'Herding Clinic' Dog!

Although he did fine, he finds the presence of a Trainer/stranger putting new 'pressures' on him too much, to the extent that on the second day he started to switch off, & instead of concentrating on work, found distractions in eating sheep poo & eventually walking away!

He also finds training exercises rather pointless & uninteresting unless he sees a job to do with it all....

I suspect Tilly would have taken the training methods used in her stride, as she can take 'Pressure' much better than Loki. But another time I may just spectate, observe, & take away what I like & find useful, rather than actually working Loki in a situation where the pressure is all too much.

The top photo is one of Loki @ the Clinic, the bottom one is of him @ home with 'his' sheep in the paddock a few days later.....

Interestingly @ the Clinic, he completely shut down on his 'Come Bye' flank because of too much pressure....In the 2nd photo, all that has changed for him is that is is feeling no pressure......on his 'bye Flank' he is suddenly fast, square & covering to the outside...

Good lad Loki xx

Loki Preparing for his Herding Clinic with Lynn Leach in the UK....

Aug 17

Loki is excited! In 5 days he is attending a 'Herding Clinic' in Yorkshire - he will be the only Vallhund there xxx

Loki ( & particularly his 'mum!' actually ! ) is very excited that next Friday & Saturday he is attending a Herding Clinic with the very well known Canadian 'All Breeds' Herding Trainer Lynn Leach in Yorkshire!

Loki will be the only Swedish Vallhund attending, so he is hoping to BE what he IS, & show what he CAN do, & his 'mum' is hoping to LEARN some specific things!

I am also hoping to get advice on my little talented one Tilly (she who goes for the 'heads' of stock... where the control is ) xxx And also how ducks may help my 'driving girl' Megan find her true place in the Herding World.....

Meanwhile Loki had a good work out @ 7 a.m. today! Last week the kind owner of the sheep got his BC to put them in the paddock from the 4 acre field for us with a beautiful outrun in probably 3 minutes.... But heh! Loki achieved the same eventually today! Not glamorous but effective! Took him considerably longer, but .....Then he did some good flanking, & Megan gained further confidence...

All a big Herding Journey for us all!
